About the Museum

Most histories of hacking are told as a straight line of dates. This museum refuses that. We believe a culture is best understood through the things it made and the things it argued about.

Every exhibit here is a single artifact: a circuit, a printout, a piece of writing, a worm. Around each object we reconstruct the moment it appeared, the people who held it, and the idea it set loose.

The collection is deliberately small and deliberately opinionated. It is curated, translated into four languages, and built — fittingly — on open tools.
